About the Trauma Clinic
Wealden Psychology Institute had the official opening of its trauma clinic in February 2009. Some of the services offered will include a free initial assessment, usually at the Clinic, but if necessary at the person’s home, during which the individual therapeutic needs are ascertained. The assessor will then make a recommendation for a particular type of therapy, and will probably select a therapist.
The usual approach is weekly individual therapy, but we also offer group therapy where appropriate, and we also have four residential treatments a year; two at weekends, and two during the week. These are offered at “Le Sarment” our Centre in South West France.
Wealden Psychology Institute has developed a unique, four stage treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder – PTSD and complex PTSD. This draws upon the work of Bessel Van Der Kolk, Judith Lewes Herman, and Babette Rothschild.
We offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desentisization and Reprocessing) and integrative CBT, as well as Equine Assisted Psychotherapy where appropriate.
